What is Intellectual Property (IP)?

Intellectual property comprises of creations of the mind. It can also be said to be a field of law that aims at protecting the knowledge created through human effort in order to stimulate and promote further creativity. Therefore, property that is as the result of thought is called intellectual property.

Examples of Intellectual Properties are trademarks; patents; industrial designs; copyrights and related rights; Traditional knowledge; Genetic Resources; Geographical Indicators; and the expression of folklore.
